The Syrian Arab Red Crescent

Optical Express employees travel to Syria to help those whose lives have been blighted by poor eye sight.

We partnered with the International charity Red Crescent, and have sent volunteers from Optical Express to Syria to help those who are affected by poor vision. Over six days and in three locations, our team (armed with 2,500 pairs of glasses and 3,000 pairs of lenses) treated 3,500 patients ranging from children with Cerebral Palsy to adults who would be diagnosed as blind in the UK and Ireland. In a country where working and living conditions are extremely tough, the work that our team carried out really was life-changing. We are excited to be planning a further trip in the near future.
