Optical Express has thanked a Norwich student who created a new logo for the eye care provider as part of his degree course.
Andrew Kitchener, who this week graduated with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design from Norwich University of the Arts, created a new logo which is now being exhibited as part of his degree show.
The design student was inspired to create the image, which incorporates a pair of spectacles, after independently researching the Optical Express brand.
The eye care provider learned of Andrew’s designs when he posted them on social media. While Optical Express has no immediate plans to adopt the new branding its Norwich clinic manager Andy Farren thanked him for his creativity.
Andy also presented Andrew with €150 vouchers to spend at Optical Express.
Andrew said: “I wasn’t expecting my work to be noticed by Optical Express so I’m pleased that they have taken an interest in my design.
“The logo is part of a project I completed in my final year.
“I was interested in opticians and I knew there was a Norwich branch of Optical Express clinic so I did some research on the company. I also really liked the name of the business, especially the Express part.
“The logo is now part of my portfolio and will hopefully help me to find my first job.”
Optical Express has no immediate plans to adopt the new logo but the eye care provider praised Andrew for his creativity.
Andy, Optical Express’ Norwich clinic manager, said: “We really make an effort to get involved with the local community so we’re thrilled that Andrew chose to focus on Optical Express because he was aware of our clinic in the town.
“It’s a great design and we are grateful to Andrew for his creativity. Even though we are optical professionals we always welcome a fresh pair of eyes.”
