Troy Williamson, IBF European Champion Boxer, Laser Eye Surgery PatientOctober 2020
Reigning IBF European Junior-Middleweight Champion, Troy Williamson first discovered his love of boxing at just 10 years old. However, being too young to compete professionally, Troy hung up his boxing gloves for a number of years only eventually returning to the sport in his mid-teens.
Fast forward to nearly a decade later and Troy is now considered to be one of the sport’s top up in coming talents.
However, after repeatedly failing his eyesight medical, Troy knew that if he wanted to continue in the sport professionally, he would need to consider alternative vision correction solutions.
“…it was only like this year they (The British Boxing Board of Control) may have failed me on my eye test and I wouldn’t be able to box again, so obviously the only way to overcome it was laser eye surgery.”
Shortly after attending a consultation at his local Optical Express clinic, Troy was booked for surgery and although admittedly nervous, he credits Optical Express staff for helping to put him at ease.
“The staff were great and welcomed me with open arms…they even keep in touch now and then on email just to ask how I am.”
It’s only been a week since his surgery and Troy is already delighted with the results and is surprised at how fast he could return to training.
“I was back at training after a week just doing a bit of cardio really and yeah, they healed up pretty quickly. “
“I’d definitely recommend laser eye surgery one million percent. I’ve had lots of people reach out to ask me how it went and would I recommend it and straight away (I answer) yes.”
